Assessed for 2026The most useful half-a-product in the index, and it is a backend platform rather than a full-stack builder: the vendor's own second section is "Connect to any frontend", naming Lovable, WeWeb, Bubble, Bolt, FlutterFlow, Webflow and Replit. Xano gives you a genuine PostgreSQL database with direct database access, triggers and Redis caching, a designed REST API and background jobs, all built visually, which is why it takes 4.6 on API and MCP and 4.4 on scalability. On the database specifically it beats every all-in-one here, including our top-ranked tool: Totalum runs on Cloudflare D1, which is SQLite compatible and not PostgreSQL. The agent surface is deeper than we previously published: a native MCP server the vendor describes as "expose every API as a governed AI tool", plus an MCP Builder, an Agent Builder and a developer CLI MCP, with the no-code MCP and agent builder available on the free tier. Two free-tier limits decide whether you can evaluate it at all: a hard rate limit of 10 requests per 20 seconds, and US-only hosting, so an EU buyer cannot test in region without paying. It has no front end whatsoever, so design scores 3.0 and that is fair.

A backend I can defend in a code review

Backend engineer. Suspicious of anything that hides the database from me.
Real Postgres, indexes I control, endpoints I designed, background tasks that run when they should. I have replaced two hand-written Node services with this and the team has not noticed a difference except that changes ship faster. The visual builder sounds like a compromise and in practice it is not.

Half a stack, and the good half

Runs a six-person studio building client web apps. Cares about handover more than novelty.
We pair it with WeWeb for client work and the combination delivers better than any single all-in-one tool we have tried. Two subscriptions is the cost of that, and clients ask why. Worth explaining. The absence of any interface builder is a feature once you accept what you are buying.

I bought a database and expected an app

Solo founder of a fitness app with 900 paying users. Built it twice, second time properly.
My fault more than theirs, but worth saying for other founders. There is no front end here at all. After a week I had a very good API and nothing a user could open. Ended up generating the interface elsewhere, which worked, but doubled my monthly cost and my learning curve.
